Curiosity Connections

Curiosity Connections is a network dedicated to inspirational primary STEM education across the West of England. The team behind the initiative, the DETI Inspire programme based at the University of the West of England, approached us to help modernise and improve their website so it could better serve their growing community.

Resource hub

The platform acts as a central resource hub for educators involved in inspirational STEM outreach – from classroom teachers to STEM Ambassadors and professional science communicators. Its mission is simple but ambitious: to increase opportunities for primary-aged children to experience exciting, high-quality STEM learning.

Working within a defined budget, we collaborated closely with the DETI Inspire team to understand their goals, content workflows and user needs. We undertook a restructuring of the site architecture to remove friction and make key resources easier to find, ensuring the platform truly supported busy educators.

Identity and illustration

To create a more distinctive and memorable presence, we developed a fresh, lightweight visual identity alongside a suite of custom illustrations celebrating well-known West of England landmarks. These elements were tested and refined during a focused prototyping phase, enabling us to validate the user journey and ensure the design would resonate with both educators and young audiences.

The final solution is a colourful, accessible and highly usable site built on the WordPress platform. It provides a flexible editing environment tailored to the small admin team, allowing them to publish new content, resources and events quickly and confidently.

The project demonstrates our strengths in collaborative discovery, user-centred design, technical problem-solving, and the creation of lightweight, maintainable digital platforms for mission-driven organisations.
