It may seem a bit out of kilter with our day-to-day work, developing data-driven web-based platforms which are often technically challenging, but we've set-up Telling Tales an online, and pop-up, bookshop specialising in carefully curated illustrated children's books.
There's good reason for this, Line have always worked with book publishers. We are fortunate enough to gain exposure to many aspects of the publishing trade, whether that's building in-house systems, working with ONIX data, or delivering short-term digital marketing campaigns. Part of the chain we see less of is retail and distribution, by developing Telling Tales we've given ourselves a hands-on opportunity to work directly with distributors, meet small independent publishers and have regular conversations with book lovers. We also have a studio full of beautifully illustrated books.
We set ourselves tight budget and time constraints to deliver Telling Tales, there's still plenty to learn and refine but in a short space of time it has given us a unique perspective in to an industry we work regularly with, a perspective we would not have gained through our usual work.
