Making things for the web

Augmented Reality

There's a lot of buzz around Augmented Reality at the moment so I thought I'd mock up a quick example using Flash.

The example on this page was very quick to put together thanks to the FLARToolKit from saqoosha.net, in this example I also use Papervision3D. You'll need a couple of things to view the example:

  1. A printer to download and print this pattern, flarlogo-marker.pdf
  2. A webcam
  3. Flash Player 10

Click "Allow" in the Flash movie below so it can access you're webcam, print the pattern and hold it up to the screen. You should see Ceri and Baloo about to launch a rocket. As you can imagine this could have plenty of applications and I'll add a more exciting example soon.

You need to either login or register to leave a comment.

You can download the PDF to your iPhone and use that instead of a printout. If you have loads of reflections it won't work that well though.
