Making things for the web

What to expect in PubliSite 4.15

We've been busy working away on version 4.15 of PubliSite, our flagship CMS product. PubliSite 4.15 will contain lots of new features, improvements and bug-fixes, but the highlight of 4.15 will be the new Flash Video List functionality.

PubliSite has supported Flash video since day one, but 4.15 will take this a step further with the introduction of flash video lists. Why would you want to do this? Think of the way YouTube displays lists of associated videos once the current video has finished playing - that's a good example of the kind of functionality that will be supported in PubliSite 4.15. Not only will it be possible to add flash video lists to a page using the new dedicated Flash Video List plugin, it will also be possible to embed video lists right in the middle of new and existing WYSIWYG content using the Rich Text editor.

Flash video lists will be easy to manage - simply edit your flash video through the PubliSite Resource Manager in the usual way and tick a few check boxes to add your video to the desired lists. Then hey presto, your video will appear on all the pages which display that list, without having to edit the pages themselves.

We're also building a new and improved Flash video player to display the new video lists in the best way possible. As with all things PubliSite, the new video player will be fully customisable so it fits in with the look n' feel of the site on which it is used. Did I mention we're also adding video subtitle support?

Along with the other new features, such as enhanced Google Analytics integration, improved HTML compression, and enhanced security, we're sure that PubliSite 4.15 will continue to make it easier than ever for our clients to produce and manage fantastic websites.

(eagle-eyed readers will notice that last time I spoke about PubliSite version 4.12 - what happened to versions 4.13 and 4.14!? These were both minor maintenance releases, and didn't introduce any new front-end functionality)
